  1. National Mental Health Survey of India, 2015-16

The national mental health survey was undertaken by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru in 12 states of India during 2015-16 on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. IMHANS was one of the partner institutions and functioned as the regional co-investigator for Kerala state. The survey is the first of its kind in India and provided baseline data on mental health problems and mental health care delivery systems. The Kerala data of the survey was released by Smt. KK. Shailaja Teacher, honorable Minister for Health and Family Welfare on 4th November 2017. (Fund from Govt. of India through NIMHANS)

  1. Epidemiological study of psychiatric disorders in Kerala

IMHANS was one of the partner institutions for the state-level epidemiological survey of psychiatric disorders, organized by the Kerala State Mental Health Authority with fund from the National Health Mission, Govt. of Kerala. IMHANS organized the survey in Wayanad and Kasargode districts. (Fund from NHM through KSMHA)

  1. Developing a model for resource room training for slow learners in normal schools:

The research project was undertaken with financial support from the Child Development Centre (CDC), Thiruvananthapuram in 2009 with the aim to evaluate the effectiveness of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for slow learners modeled on resource room training in normal schools(Fund from CDC, Thiruvananthapuram)

Ongoing Projects

  1. A national survey on the extent and pattern of drug use in India is a multi-centric research project funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and organized by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.IMHANS is collaborating with the project as the Regional Technical Agency (RTA) for Kerala and Lakshwadeep. Dr. Shibukumar TM is the principal investigator for Kerala and Lakshadweep.
