This lab was set up as a part of the centre of excellence grant.

  1. Neurophysiology Division: This section of the lab has state of the art facilities for video Electroencephalography (EEG), Polysomnography (PSG), Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (BERA), Visual Evoked Potential (VEP), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG). These services are currently available for diagnostics. Research facilities including EEG/ERP system and Neurofeedback are currently in the process of being set up.
  2. Genetics Division:This section of the lab has state of the art facilities for providing both clinical and research aspects of molecular biology. These facilities have been used for SERB funded research projects in the areas of primary immune deficiency and gynaecological malignancies. IMHANS currently provides the following services:

Karyotyping -Peripheral blood chromosomal analysis for detecting numerical and structural chromosome abnormalities. (Sample required is 2-4 ml blood in sodium heparin vacutainer)

Genetic counselling -Post-test genetic counselling and pre-test genetic counselling are available that involves educating patients and their families about the occurrence or recurrence of a genetic disorder in the family. If there is any history of a genetic disorder in the family, please avail genetic counselling service provided by IMHANS

IMHANS also provides services for the diagnosis of several human genetic disorders by using sophisticated instruments used in molecular biology and genetics such as
