The Department of Clinical Psychology at IMHANS functions with two regular clinical psychologists at IMHANS and other clinical psychologists working in various community-based programs. The services of the department include a traditional outpatient clinic for adults and children that conducts psychological assessments, counselling, psychotherapy, neuropsychological assessment, cognitive retraining, behaviour therapy, parent management training, community psychological assessment and intervention, supervision in psychological evaluations, psychological intervention and research for postgraduate psychology, social work and psychiatric nursing internship trainees.
The department is involved in regular academic teaching and supervision for Psychiatric Social Work MPhil trainees and Psychiatric Nursing Trainees on IMHANS. Apart from research (see below for more details), the clinical psychology department also conducts training in and out of IMHANS for teachers, parents, students, volunteers, and allied professionals and volunteers.
